Container Question 4b

The driver who delivers a load has several responsibilities and if he or she either tries to participate in activities or ignore what is going on, several problems can come up. A driver should observe the loading and unloading for several reasons, including being there should the dock personnel damage either the load or the container. Also if the load is going to be heavy, it must be distributed correctly in the container to avoid weight penalties if you are stopped.  Be sure to stay out of the way, and if the company refuses to allow you to observe , you should note that on the Delivery Receipt and have the dock foreman sign.

Finally when the loading or unloading  is complete, have the dock foreman sign with the date and time that the process was completed.  If this step is left out, we have no proof that we have fulfilled our contractual responsibilities/
